| Job Details | JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for merchandising activities primarily covering Dairy Food (including dairy products, cheese, and chilled items), Frozen Food, Liquor, and Fresh Food categories.
- Responsible for the planning and execution of food-related event promotions, including but not limited to Bakery Fairs, Mooncake Festivals, Christmas, Chinese New Year, and other seasonal or thematic events beyond Japanese fairs.
- Plan and optimize product assortment within assigned categories based on seasonality, trends, and customer demand
- Develop purchasing plans considering cost, retail pricing, and GP%
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and sales contribution
- Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance and implement improvements
- Maintain optimal stock levels and prevent overstock or stock shortages
- Ensure strict control of expiry dates and freshness (especially for fresh, chilled, and frozen products)
- Minimize waste and improve inventory turnover
- Coordinate closely with the operations team for replenishment and stock management
- Plan and execute food-related promotional events e.g. Bakery Fair, Mooncake Festival, Christmas, Chinese New Year, etc.)
- Organize tastings, live demonstrations, and pop-up events
- Analyze purchasing behavior across customer segments (local, affluent, expatriates, tourists)
- Monitor sales trends by product and price tier
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Verify product labeling, import regulations, and certifications
- Maintain high-quality standards, especially for fresh, chilled, and frozen products
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business, Retail Management, Food Science, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in merchandising, category management, buying, or retail operations within supermarket, premium grocery, food retail, or department store environment.
- Strong exposure in handling Dairy, Frozen Food, Fresh Food, Chilled Products, Liquor, or imported food categories.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills, including experience dealing with local and overseas vendors.
- Good understanding of retail sales analysis, GP margin management, pricing strategy, and promotional planning.
- Familiar with food merchandising standards, visual display concepts, and customer shopping behavior.
- Experience in organizing seasonal promotions and food-related events such as festive fairs, tasting events, or product launches.
- Able to work in a fast-paced retail environment and manage multiple categories/projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and retail merchandising systems.
