Job Purpose/Summary
To manage and lead the daily operations of the production floor, ensuring efficient production, high-quality standards, safety compliance, on-time delivery. The production assistant manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and improving production processes while leading and motivating the production team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Production Planning and Control

Oversee daily, weekly and monthly production schedules to meet customer demands.
Coordinate with the planning, materials and quality teams to ensure availability of raw materials and components.
Monitor production output, adjust schedules as needed, and resolve bottlenecks.

Team Leadership and Development

Lead, coach and develop production supervisors and shopfloor teams.
Set clear performance expectations and KPIs.
Promote a culture of accountability, safety , continuous improvement, and teamwork.

Process Optimization

Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
Apply lean manufacturing, AMS, Kaizen and 5S methodologies.
Monitor and analyse KPIs such as cycle time, OEE etc.

Quality Assurance

Ensure products are manufactured according to quality standards and customer specifications.
Work with the Quality department to resolve non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
Promote zero-defect mindset on the shop floor.

Health, Safety and Environment(HSE)

Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Promote and enforce a safe working environment.
Lead incident investigations and implement preventive measures.

Resource Management

Manage manpower, machines and materials to meet production targets.
Monitor and control production costs.
Manage schedules, overtime and manpower planning.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Liaise with Engineering, Marketing, and Quality to ensure seamless operations.
Participate in new product launches and production line setups.
Coordinate with HR for recruitment, training and employee engagement activities.

Reporting and Documentation

Provide daily/weekly/monthly production reports to management.
Maintain accurate records of production metrics, downtime, and resource utilization.

Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
3-5 years of experience in production or manufacturing, preferably in automotive or Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier environment.
Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar methodologies is a plus.
Proficient in MS Office and production management tools.
